FAQ

Anyone can join TSP by purchasing a membership.
People join TSP to meet their neighbors, swim, socialize, join a swimming team, or work on a weekend project.
Based on a Family membership option (for a four-person family), enjoying the pool for 50 days in the summer costs about $3.00 per person per day. If you have a Family membership with 11 members, while you would pay an additional $200 (bringing your total membership fee to $825), you would pay $1.50 per entry for 50 days in the summer. The more you use your membership, the cheaper your per-entry cost works out to be. So get more for your money and come to the pool every day!
Absolutely! For instance, you can go to the pool to sunbathe from noon to 4:00, leave to get stuff done around the house, and then come back to the pool later for some poolside rest and relaxation.
Yes, we reserve two 50-meter swim lanes every day and in the evenings for lap swimmers.
Yes, the 2019 rate is $125 for unlimited visits for summer members’ nannies, and $100 for unlimited visits for certificate members’ nannies—a great and affordable perk for you and the nanny.
Yes, we have swim instructors for children and adults at the pool, and we also offer onsite scuba lessons through our partners at Atlantic Edge Scuba.
Yes! You can submit partial payments all year long! Our method of choice is through the Zelle app—most financial institutions use Zelle as their preferred method of electronic payments. Check with your banking institution to see if they offer Zelle. And if you do want to pay through Zelle, direct your payment to treasury@twinbrookpool.org. We also accept PayPal, personal checks and cash. You can pay as little or as much as you like with each payment, and it will all be recorded by our membership team. Additionally, if you put in approved service hours to the pool prior to opening day, you can reduce your membership fee significantly. The only requirement is that your membership must be paid in full by the start of the season. But paying it little by little over the year is highly encouraged!
Yes, we have a MCSL swim team, the Twinbrook Ducks Swim Team, established in 1955. However, no, we do not have a high school swim team. Generally speaking, our swimmers attend either Rockville High School or Richard Montgomery High School, and we also have swimmers who attend local private or parochial high schools such as Holy Cross and Georgetown Prep, for example.
Yes, we do, where we sell sodas, chips, frozen sweet treats, and other light snacks. We also have community grills available for members. Many members spend evenings here to grill dinner, enjoy friends and visit with neighbors.
TSP is a non-profit, volunteer, member-run organization. Our members are the volunteers who get the pool pumps running, organize the swimming team, host social events, or play treasurer to pay the bills. It is similar to a church or PTA, but with the goal of having fun. If you become a member, we expect that you will relax and enjoy the pool, and that you will pitch in and help keep it running, just as you do in your own home. It is operationally run by a Board of Directors made up of certificate members who are, collectively, owners of the pool.
Twinbrook Swimming Pool is owned by the members of the club who own a membership certificate. Any member can purchase a certificate. We encourage all members to become certificate members. As with owning anything, the certificate bestows certain benefits and responsibilities upon its owners. Certificate owners elect the pool's volunteer Board of Directors, who are also certificate owners. Certificate owners enjoy certain discounts but are financially responsible for the pool. Details on the organization of the pool and definition of certificate owners can be found in the TSP bylaws. The cost of a purchasing a TSP certificate is currently $800.
Yard work, staffing the snack bar, and social event organization are just a few of the ways volunteer members help. If you have an idea or questions on how to help, send an email to swim@twinbrookpool.org.
Most of TSP's budget is the salaries of lifeguards. Other large expenses include water, electricity, property taxes and pool maintenance.
Yes. When you join the pool, we offer members free reservations for special family events, birthdays, graduations, family reunions, etc. Deck usage reservations for special occasions can be made by emailing the request to swim@twinbrookpool.org. Reservations are limited to three hours.

No, due to pool rules, children younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Friends who are also members of the pool are always helpful, as they could provide the required adult supervision on days or at times when you can’t be present personally but your kids still want to swim.
